Dana White didn’t sound very cheerful about the idea of Khabib Nurmagomedov becoming a fight promoter. He wished his former lightweight champion all the luck, but warned him about the troubles that he would come across.

Meanwhile, Golden Boy Promoter Oscar De La Hoya sounded different from Dana White. ‘Golden Boy’, who backed Khabib Nurmagomedov to be a promoter on social media, ruled out White’s claims of seeing complications on the journey.

In response, Dana White connected with Teddy Atlas on ‘THE FIGHT with Teddy Atlas’ and said, “If you didn’t notice, I have left him alone. You know he just came out, I was telling ‘Khabib just started his own promotion, and I said Khabib has no idea but he is gonna know. You’re gonna learn you know what it’s like to be a promoter and De La Hoya comes out and says, ‘Ahh Khabib, it’s easy’. But yeah, it’s easy you don’t f*** do anything. You lost every fighter you f**** ever had and you literally do nothing.”

Oscar De La Hoya‘s split up with Canelo Alvarez has left his company devoid of big names. Although Ryan Garcia is still with him, the Golden Boy stable clearly needs more A-listers.

Is Dana White seeing Khabib Nurmagomedov as competition?

‘The Eagle’ is reportedly targeting top-rated UFC fighters to come and sign with his promotion. Veteran lightweight star Kevin Lee has already done so and will appear on the card soon. Nurmagomedov has also invited Dustin Poirier to sign with him.

However, competing with UFC is clearly not his target now as he would look to establish his promotion (Eagle FC) in North America.

Hence, White may not view Khabib Nurmagomedov as one of his competitors. However, that can change if Khabib engineers a stellar rise in his new venture. If he does so, he will have surely overcome numerous obstacles on the way and earned his stripes as a promoter.
