Rising boxing star Sam Maxwell is set for the biggest fight of his career against the well-respected Joe Hughes. The undefeated Maxwell is renowned for being a technician in the ring; however, this is by far his biggest step-up in competition.

The fight is set to take place behind closed doors with Daniel Dubois and Ricardo Snijders headlining the event.

Maxwell will walk into this fight with an undefeated record of 13-0; he has 11 KO’s to his name. Sam uses his length to create distance and is surprisingly strong. However, Hughes is an opponent that can’t be taken lightly. He has had several bouts against Vasiliy Lomachenko during his army days that went 5 rounds each time.

However, Joe is predominantly a one-armed fighter. This could prove to be a disadvantage, especially against a highly technical boxer. Maxwell just has to find the right angles and he can grind out a victory.

Sam Maxwell is ready for the biggest fight of his career

Despite being a highly skilled boxer, Maxwell has been dropped before. Also, several of his weaknesses were exposed during his fight against Sabri Sediri.

Sediri, who’s more of a brawler, applied lots of pressure and scored a knockdown. Hughes has never been knocked out in his career. Maxwell will have to grind out a result and will have to be extremely cautious. If he can handle the pressure early on and create the distance he needs, he can dominate the fight.

My prediction is that Sam Maxwell will secure the victory via a unanimous decision. Hughes is known for having a solid chin, and it’s unlikely Maxwell can generate the power to knock him out.

Sam will have to tire his opponent. Hughes is the more experienced fighter; however, Maxwell has what it takes to secure a victory over his opponent.
