Despite bagging a lopsided win against Caleb Truax, IBF champion Caleb Plant couldn’t intimidate a lot of his contemporaries. The current 168 lbs roster is stacked with umpteen A-listers and many of them are still undefeated. That said, David Benavidez has once again called out Caleb Plant after the latter’s successful title defence.

Aged 24, Benavidez already has a pro record of 23-0, with 20 coming via knockouts. He has one of the most alarming KO ratios in the division and has set his eyes on the IBF world title next. Following umpteen call-outs to Caleb Plant, Benavidez once again accused the IBF champion of ducking him.

He took to Instagram and teased a fight against Plant. However, he poured some serious heat in the caption, touting it as an intense collision between two prime 168 pounders.

‘El Bandera Roja’ wrote, “Can we make this happen 2021 or you gonna keep hiding like a little b**** Caleb Plant. Let’s give the fans what they want to see.”

Benavidez has his upcoming fight against Ronald Ellis on March 13. On winning the fight, he can truly demand a title shot against any of the elites who will be in action around the same time period.

Canelo Alvarez will defend his WBC and WBA title against Avni Yildirim on February 27. After that, Billy Joe Saunders is assumed to appear for his WBO title defense. Meanwhile, Caleb Plant has already defended his IBF belt.

But why is he focused more on Caleb Plant and his IBF title?

Stylistically, both Benavidez and Plant are quite similar. They are both unbeaten, orthodox and have pretty similar features in height and reach. So, it justifies their in-ring collision as one of the elite would fall from the mix.

Both the pugilists are quick and possess fierce power that enables them to finish their opponents at any stage. But, who’s a better puncher? Only an in-ring clash between them will determine that. Till then boxing fans and analysts will continue to contrast them against each other.
