On May 8, Canelo Alvarez put on a clinical performance against the Brit Billy Joe Saunders. The latter, who was supposed to be the toughest opponent for the Mexican boxer, was totally outclassed. Also, with that win, Canelo has now set himself up for an undisputed super-middleweight clash with Caleb Plant.

“I think Canelo beats him easier than he beat Billy Joe Saunders, I think he’ll stop Caleb Plant with the body shot, to be honest. I don’t really feel like Caleb Plant can take body shots well. Canelo throws amazing body shots,” said Benavidez.

Canelo dictated the pace of the fight and scored enough points by landing his jabs and powerful right-hand shots. But it was in round 8 when Alvarez shook Saunders with an uppercut, which caused a swollen eye. Citing that, the referee and Saunders‘ team concluded the fight then and there.
