A blockbuster night awaits as David Benavidez and David Morrell prepare to battle for the interim WBC and WBA (Regular) light heavyweight titles in Las Vegas. The stakes couldn’t be higher—the winner will not only claim both belts but also earn a rare opportunity to challenge next month’s victor in the undisputed rematch between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol.

What is David Benavidez’s fight purse against David Morrell?

Unfortunately, David Benavidez’s official fight purse for his upcoming bout against David Morrell Jr. has not been disclosed. However, based on previous earnings, estimates can be made. For his victory over Caleb Plant, Benavidez reportedly earned a minimum of $3 million. In his next fight against Demetrius Andrade, his team sought at least $7 million, though some sources suggest he made around $2 million.

More recently, Benavidez secured the WBC ‘Interim’ light heavyweight title with a win over Oleksandr Gvozdyk, for which his estimated purse was $8 million. Given these numbers, it is reasonable to assume that Benavidez will earn around $5 million for fighting Morrell. However, this estimate does not account for the pay-per-view revenue share, which, considering both Benavidez and Morrell hold titles, should be an even 50%.

Akin to Benavidez, Morrell’s exact earnings for their fight remain unclear. However, his past payouts provide a rough estimate of his potential purse. Having established himself as a major contender in the division with his action-packed performances, Morrell is set to bank significantly more than in his previous bouts.

He earned $350,000 against Mario Abel Cazares, followed by $400,000 against Aidos Yerbossynuly in 2022. In 2023, his first $500,000 payday came against Yamaguchi Falcao. However, after moving up to 175 pounds in 2024, his fight against Radivoje Kalajdzic saw him earn between $80,000 and $120,000, including sponsorships.

Given Benavidez’s star power and the fight’s significance, Morrell’s purse is expected to be much higher. Estimates suggest he could earn between $750,000 and $1 million, with potential PPV cuts boosting his total earnings.

That said, both David Benavidez and David Morrell will walk out with big paychecks. However, if Morrell can overcome the mountain that is Benavidez, his future paychecks can be exponentially bigger. But do you think Morrell has what it takes?
