The unified super-middleweight champion, Canelo Alvarez, will step inside the squared circle on February 27 against Avni Yildirim. This will mark the Mexican boxer’s first major title defense at this weight class. Even though he’s confronting a lesser-known opponent in this fight, Alvarez is leaving no stones unturned with his grilling training regimes.

The fight will be telecasted on DAZN, and the platform has truly gratified the Alvarez fans with this promo.

Alvarez last fought in December 2020 against the lanky Brit, Callum Smith. He put on one of his career-best performances that night and cemented his place in the 168-pound division. The Mexican has exuberant plans of competing multiple times this year and subsequently fighting for the undisputed belt.

If he gets past his mandatory challenger Avni Yildirim on February 27, he’ll put his brilliance to the test against Billy Joe Saunders, the WBO 168-pound champion.

But, as a veteran, Alvarez knows that he will need to focus on one challenge at a time. Hence, he won’t be looking to underestimate the Turk.

Yildirim has enjoyed a considerable career in the sport, but he hasn’t faced someone of Alvarez’s level. Given the difference in levels and experience, this might be Yildirim’s toughest boxing outing. However, Yildirim will not be a pushover. He’s aware of the prize this fight carries and will be keen on performing to that level.

Overall, this contest promises to be a must-watch, even though it seems a one-sided affair.
