The topic of transgender athletes competing has been a highly debated topic in all sports. While some people think that these athletes should be given a chance to compete amongst the best in their sport, others feel like they could use it to gain an unfair advantage over their peers.

However, with the world progressing in terms of LGBTQ+ rights, boxing does not want to get left behind as WBC released a statement addressing the issue of transgender athletes competing in boxing.

The document gave details about the differences between tans-gender women and cis-gender women in sports while also stating the arguments, both for and against the issue. This was not all as fans jumped on to Twitter to share their opinion.

Fans react to WBC’s statement

Many fans felt that if the WBC decided to let trans-athletes compete, it would not be competitive as one fan gave the example of former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder fighting a woman.

Notably, another fan stated that this should be discussed and put to bed quickly, or else there was something wrong with the sport.

Moreover, a fan hilariously stated that heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua would go on to unify the women’s heavyweight division if this decision was made.

Another fan outright claimed that the sport should be deleted if this was allowed.

However, not all fans were skeptical of this, as one fan stated that this was an interesting move by the WBC and time would tell how it played out.

Furthermore, another fan claimed that there should be a separate division for trans-athletes instead of making them compete against men and women.

It looked like there was a mixed opinion about the statement. While some fans doubt how this could be implemented in the sport, others feel like this decision could be the change that the sport needs.
