Deontay Wilder had considered retiring from the sport after losing an epic trilogy battle against Tyson Fury. But the recent events have changed the mindset of the former WBC heavyweight champion. The Olympic bronze medalist had been to several auspicious ceremonies, where he reflected on his retirement.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ believed that the sport of boxing was missing the American heavyweight. Talking to reporters, he announced his return to the ring.
He said, “It was living proof because I might always say like I should come back on popular demand because that’s all I’ve been hearing from high and low, from homeless people all the way up to billionaires. You feel me right and it’s just been an amazing feeling.”

Furthermore, he added, “You know, I mean so many people reaching out telling me the importance because without American heavyweight boxing really ain’t exciting. I mean American heavyweight bringing that excitement to the division and all the money flow cause the excitement of people.”
The former champ had made similar claims at the unveiling ceremony of his statue.
One of the most devastating punchers in the history of sport has gone to his hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where his statue was placed. While unveiling the life-size statue himself, the champ got emotional and later announced that he is returning to the ring.
What’s next for Deontay Wilder?
The most promising American heavyweight of the previous decade, Deontay Wilder will claim his lost throne if he returns to the ring.

According to reigning WBC and the Ring Magazine titlist Tyson Fury, Wilder is the greatest heavyweight after him. ‘The Gypsy King’ wanted that Wilder should return and reclaim the titles and fight the winner of the Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua rematch.
Notably, after thrashing the mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte, Fury had announced his retirement. This will eventually lead to the vacation of his titles.
