Ever since Deontay Wilder ended up on the losing vertical against Tyson Fury, he went out of action and stayed inactive for almost 17 months. Now, in just over a week, he will end his hiatus as he bagged a trilogy bout with his British foe on October 9.

Wilder has entered a different tangent altogether for this fight, as he wants to keep his focus sharp to claim that ‘W’. Recently, his fiancee, Telli Swift, was in an interview with Es News. Here, she opened up on Wilder’s headspace and more.

She said, ”I just feel like Deontay has nothing to lose right now. And that’s like a dangerous place to be in a mind of a fighter. He’s in a very dark place, but he needs to be. I feel like Deontay is the best I’ve ever seen him.”

Fury was first slated to fight his compatriot, Anthony Joshua, for all the heavyweight titles on the line, but Deontay Wilder secured his contractual rematch with legal help.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ wants to make the most out of his fight against Fury on October 9, and possibly get his WBC title back. A win in this fight might advance Wilder’s chances for an undisputed fight. But the bigger accolade will be to annihilate Tyson Fury, who outclassed him in their second meet.

Over the past few months, the ex-champ immersed himself in some consuming workout regimes. He even roped in a new trainer in Malik Scott to prepare in the finest possible way.
