Known for his destructive punching power, Deontay Wilder is perhaps the scariest man in the heavyweight division. The same is evident in his impressive boxing record; 42 out of his 43 wins came from a knockout. The ‘Bronze Bomber’ is the kind of fighter who can end fights with a single blow. However, one man managed to dodge the thunderous punches of the heavyweight division’s fiercest brawler.

It’s none other than the ‘Gypsy King’ Tyson Fury! From being the first man to get back up from Wilder’s crazy knockdown to being the first man to drop Wilder, Fury compelled Wilder to reevaluate his game. Since his second loss at the hands of Fury in 2021, Wilder has just fought once. So, people have been wondering when Wilder would make his return to the squared ring. While appearing in a recent podcast with Blue Blood Sports TV, Wilder dropped hints about coming back to the ring while confessing a hard-hitting fact about the heavyweight division.

During the interview, Wilder confessed that the heavyweight division is in the worst shape in the history of boxing. “When you see the heavyweight division – I kinda agree it’s in its worst moment its ever been in history,” said Wilder. He went on to suggest that he was the one who brought the excitement to the division.

“I brought the excitement back to boxing,” said Wilder. The ‘Bronze Bomber’ further justified that if his claim wasn’t true, why was the division so boring without him? Wilder said, “If I didn’t, then why is it so dull, so dead, no f***ing excitement [without me]?” Later in the interview, Wilder finally revealed the date he would be making his return to the ring. “We’re trying to plan something mid-to-late January. 2024 is gonna be amazing for me,” said Wilder.

Wilder may fight in MMA setting

While many mixed martial artists have made their way into the boxing ring, not many boxers have tried their luck in MMA. However, that might very well change, according to Wilder’s statement during the same interview. Wilder spilled the beans on his ambition to conquer the octagon in the UFC.

Wilder suggested that he would be an unstoppable and dangerous prospect in the UFC with 4oz gloves. He did not reveal when fans could expect him to make the MMA move but assured that it would happen before his retirement. On a separate note, talks of Wilder facing Francis Ngannou were floating in the boxing community. So, there could be a tiny chance of them battling in a MMA setting.

While fans have been waiting for Wilder’s return to boxing, he finally took center stage to reveal his comeback while confessing a hard-hitting fact about the heavyweight division. However, the burning question is – Who do you think Wilder would fight in his return to the ring?
