Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel recently put an end to rumors surrounding Wilder’s injury during the training camp.

In an interview with WBN, Finkel talked about the injury. He said, “Deontay [Wilder] banged his arm in training. It was nothing. Who is this guy (Junior) Fa? When the time is right, we will give more information on the third fight.

“We will be making an announcement in the next two weeks. When we are ready, we will let you know. But Deontay is focused on the third fight. Most of what is being written now is not worth a response. Deontay wants revenge in the rematch,” he added.

Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury saga till Now

Deontay Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KOs) had his last bout in February, which was a rematch against the current WBC, Lineal, and The Ring heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury. Wilder lost the bout via TKO in the seventh round when his corner threw in the towel after a brutal beating.

This bout was the successor of their first bout in December 2018. In the fight, Wilder knocked Fury down twice, one time in the ninth round and a second time in the twelfth, nailing Fury to the canvas. Fury, however, got back up in time to finish the round strong.

The controversial decision marred the event, as many believed Fury dominated the majority of the fight and won all rounds besides the two where he was knocked down.

After his loss to Fury in the rematch, Wilder activated his rematch clause. The third bout will most likely take place in December.

With Wilder coming off the only loss of his career in his last bout, it will be interesting to see what his mindset will be, and how he approaches his next bout. He might either enter the ring being under-confident and nervous. Or he might use this loss as a motivator to come out stronger than ever. Whatever the case, we just can’t wait to watch.
