Deontay Wilder is by no means considering retirement after losing for the second time against Tyson Fury. Having seen several successful moments in the fight, Wilder looked impressive in his contest for the WBC world title. He now wants to remain active and has already chalked up a few potential matchups.

A world title fight may not be his supreme target but, Wilder’s superstar aura will still place him in the prime picture. Moreover, co-manager Shelly Finkel believes Wilder has no reason to keep his head down. Instead, he sees a successful future for ‘The Bronze Bomber’. And has revealed a few viable matchups.

In conversation with The Sun, Finkel said, “My gut says [Wilder wants] the big fights. It’s early and we have to get through [Oleksandr] Usyk ad [Anthony] Joshua and see a couple of other possibilities. [Wilder vs Joshua] would be a massive fight. No matter what happens in the Joshua vs Usyk fight” (H/T:- ESPN ringside)

Shelly Finkel was at the ringside when he saw Deontay Wilder drop Tyson Fury twice in round four of their latest WBC title fight. Post-bout, Fury spoke with Finkel and hailed his American rival’s in-ring prowess. Although Deontay Wilder showed no love at that point, he squashed the feud with Tyson Fury on social media.

It’s time for him to move on from the rivalry and resurrect his journey as a world champion. On that road, Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk can be two of his biggest opponents. But the current scenario makes AJ vs Wilder to be the most viable fight among all.

Why is Deontay Wilder vs Anthony Joshua important?

Both the former champions have suffered scratchy losses in their last fights. It justifies a heavyweight scrap between the elite-level knockout artists. But AJ shall first rematch Oleksandr Usyk to try and regain his titles. This can cause a long delay to Wilder’s in-ring activity. Meanwhile, he can stick around with some non-title fights but those will endanger his resume.

Until AJ vs Usyk 2 happens, it will be unfair to pitch a future for ‘The Bronze Bomber’ Wilder. But the ex-WBC champion can rightly see himself coming back to face the winner of AJ vs Usyk 2. It will be an interesting matchup for the entire combat family.
