Deontay Wilder’s Representation Insinuates That Tyson Fury Took the Wilder Fight to Avoid Facing Anthony Joshua

Deontay Wilder’s representation, Shelly Finkel spoke to The Sun and posited a theory on Tyson Fury ahead of his bout. Finkel added to a belief shared by Anthony Joshua’s manager, which was that Fury didn’t want to fight Joshua.

Shelly Finkel backed up his stance by sharing his surprise over the fact that Fury made little effort to negotiate a walk-away deal with Wilder. Fury vs Wilder 3 is in place of Joshua vs Fury due to the deal signed before the second fight. However, Wilder could have been offered some walk-out money by Fury’s management, which wasn’t carried out.

Finkel said that the effort to get Wilder to walk away was so minimal that he’s doubting Tyson Fury’s intention to ever fight Joshua.

 “We were shocked and our lawyers said they were shocked from their side that they made no effort before we won the case. But there was nothing from their side, which I thought was short-sighted. But that’s their choice.”

He then explained the negotiations with Warren, saying: “There was never a discussion. Frank [Warren], at one point said to me, ‘Would you guys take a seven-figure walk away? [h/t  DAZN]

Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua: Will fans ever see this mega-fight?

It seems like a no-brainer that Fury vs Joshua is the hottest fight to make in boxing considering they have all the belts between them. However, getting the fight together has been a tumultuous task, to say the least.

The delay has caused frustrations amongst both parties and the fans are no less aggravated than the fighters themselves. Furthermore, as illustrated above, allegations of ducking are also being insinuated in the camps of both fighters.

Joshua and Fury both have fights ahead of them that they will need to win in order to re-open talks of a scrap. They will be favored in their respective match-ups against Usyk and Wilder. However, anything can happen in heavyweight boxing. ‘The Gypsy King’ will need to be particularly careful seeing as Wilder can end a contest with a single blow.
