WBC champion Tyson Fury appears to be the sole reason the trilogy between him and Wilder has been postponed from its scheduled date of July 24. As the Brit’s camp tested positive for Covid-19, Deontay Wilder’s return to action is off for now. There is no new official date for this bout.

Although Fury couldn’t control the situation, he has still garnered criticism from the boxing world. Wilder’s spouse, Telli Swift, has criticized ‘The Gypsy King’ for coming with a medical setback this late. She connected with FightHype.com to address the whole situation and said-

“It’s just unfortunate and careless that he [Tyson Fury] didn’t fully vaccinate himself and I just feel like it’s a bummer. Because there’s a lot of people that spend time, energy, and money, you know, for this to happen. And you know, to promote it the way that they did. And they have to redo everything again.”

This delay might benefit Wilder. Following a humiliating loss to Fury in 2020, the third fight holds a lot on the line for ‘The Bronze Bomber’. Apart from the WBC title, it would also determine Deontay Wilder’s fighting future.

Given the stakes, the former WBC champion can use this unforeseen delay to hone his skills while Fury and his camp recover. However, that still doesn’t take away Tyson Fury’s fair chances of winning the trilogy.

Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 3- Updates

As the initial date is no longer valid, multiple reports claim that the fight will take place in October. However, matchmakers have revealed nothing from their side. Meanwhile, heavyweight drama has already found its place in the whole scenario. WBC Interim heavyweight champion Dillian Whyte has offered to compete against Deontay Wilder on the stipulated date of July 24.

Per Sky Sports, he has also demanded a WBC world champion status to defend the interim strap against Wilder. However, none of the matchmakers have posed interest in that.
