Boxing’s very own ‘Bronze Bomber’ Deontay Wilder, is currently one of the most formidable names in the heavyweight division. His powerful performances inside the ring made him a force to reckon with. His last tango inside the ring was against Finnish heavyweight Robert Helenius in October 2022. And went on to leave fans and the combat sports fraternity awestruck with his first-round knockout. Meanwhile, there have been speculations about Wilder’s potential future fights. There were also talks about a Wilder vs Anthony Joshua showdown. However, in a recent interview, he revealed why he feels that Joshua will never face him inside the ring.

Wilder was recently in an interview with Elie Seckbach, for ESNEWS. In conversation, he opened up about his thoughts on potentially fighting Joshua. Talking about the same, he said, “Joshua don’t wanna fight me, it’s plain and clear. I don’t know why people keep asking about that.”

Moreover, he further added, “Everybody should’ve known when the $50 million was offered to him. And he didn’t take it. They should have known then that something fishy was about him. Even moving forwards, Joshua don’t want to fight.” While the fight was a highly anticipated one, it reportedly failed to materialize.

Deontay Wilder is looking forward to fighting Andy Ruiz Jr

In the same interview, he also revealed that a potential fight against Andy Ruiz Jr is in the works. Moreover, he also mentioned that the duo planned to face each other in the summer of 2023.

Talking about his interest in the fight, he said, “The biggest thing for me and Andy, it’s just location. I got a lot of meetings with a lot of different people. It’s coming, I want to fight Andy, I hope he wants to fight me.” In fact, the WBC had also dictated the Wilder vs Ruiz showdown to be an eliminator for Tyson Fury’s belt.
