After their previous clash, many expected the rematch between Fabio Wardley and Frazer Clarke to last beyond the first round. But the English champion had different plans. Wardley entered the ring with a sharp game plan, determined to execute it immediately.

As soon as the bell rang, Wardley made his intentions clear, aggressively pushing forward. It didn’t take long for him to corner Clarke, applying relentless pressure. Though Clarke managed to land an uppercut in retaliation, Wardley quickly responded with two crushing overhand shots, sending Clarke to his knee.

Fabio Wardley stops history from repeating itself

Clarke tried to stumble onto his feet with the help of the ropes, but the referee, assessing the situation, waved off the fight. The ringside doctor then thoroughly checked Frazer Clarke for any lingering damage. This fight immediately became a far cry from what had happened the last time these two men met in the center of the ring.

During their first encounter, Clarke seemed much more competitive. Even though he had suffered a knockdown in the fifth round and even points were deducted from him for repeated low blows, he quickly recovered and took the fight to the distance, ending it with a split decision draw.

However, Clarke’s luck seems to have run out this time around. As the brutal finish sank in, reactions from figures like Josh Taylor and Ebanie Bridges poured in on social media platform X.

Wardley receives high praise

Wardley’s promoter Frank Warren wrote, “Explosive 1st round KO for @FabioWardley ! Another special heavyweight in the Queensberry stable!.” With that, Warren may have some big fights in store for Wardley.

UK-based sports journalist Chisanga Malata commented, “Fraser Clarke coming out a remix of Lethal Bizzle’s ‘Pow’ with his own name is hard AF.” Still, it could not get him hyped enough to survive the first round.

Podcast host and anchor Cynthia Conte described the utter destruction. “Wardley just annihilated Clarke in the first round by devastating punches. My goodness!” It didn’t even take him an entire round to do so—it ended as quickly as it started.

Meanwhile, super lightweight boxer Ohara Davies wrote, “F**k, Fraser Clark[e] was completely gone there, great win and I’m very happy for team wardley.” Notably, had the fight gone any further, Clarke may have encountered a worse knockout.

Despite failing to stop Frazer Clarke the first time around, Fabio Wardley clearly shocked the world with his first-round knockout. So, the question remains, what was Wardley missing in the first fight?
