The current lightweight division of boxing is filled with highly skilled technicians, ready to roar inside the ring every time. Out of all of them, the WBC champ, Devin Haney, has made a place of his own in a very short span of time. The young gun, who is one of the most competitive boxers at present, is eager to get his hands on the best of his division.

Until now, Haney has tested himself against some veterans and young forces like him. And in these fights, he has retained his immaculate stint, thus looking to become a lightweight legend of boxing.

Recently, the WBC champ entered a verbal tussle with the newly crowned WBC interim lightweight champ, Joseph Diaz. The duo exchanged some cosmic blows with each other on Twitter, and they eventually ended up challenging each other for a fight in November 2021.

‘The Dream’ hinted at an October booking.

Diaz wrote, “November we gotta deal.”

To which ‘The Dream’ reverted, “BET”

Diaz recently won his fight against Javier Fortuna for the WBC interim strap. This contest went the distance. It was ‘Jo Jo’ who claimed a magnetic unanimous decision win.

With that win, Diaz has put himself in the top of contention for a fight against the champ, Haney. Now, his sole aim would be to smother ‘The Dream’ and claim his title to solidify his position at the peak.

Will it be so easy for Joseph Diaz to beat Devin Haney?

‘Jo Jo’ put on a staggering performance against Fortuna in his last fight. He used his primal skills to get his hand raised. However, beating someone as elite as Haney would demand more than what he usually brings to the table. As a result, Diaz will have to extensively work on his prowess if he wishes to snatch Haney’s belt.
