Devin Haney Reveals How “Stressful” It Was Not Having His Father Around for the Fight Week In Australia

Devin Haney and his father Bill Haney have been a sensational team so far. The father-son duo is taking on the boxing world one opponent at a time. But for his recent fight with George Kambosos Jr., ‘The Dream’ did not have his confidant by his side. Here’s what the boxer had to say about his father not being around for the match.
While talking to ‘MMAFightingonSBN’, the fighter expressed he was a little stressed before the fight, and he described his disappointment when his father could not join early. “Yeah, honestly, it was very stressful. You know, just worrying about if he was gonna make it, every day was up in the air. It was like you know he’s gonna be able to come, he’s not gonna be able to come, this and that. You know me still having to stay pro, in case me having to adjust to my other coaching team.”

He further added, “You know my guys who just, guys who’ve been there but they just, my dad would be the guy that would be doing everything. You know, the guys that I would go to secondary, but these are the guys that’s calling the shots now. It was just different, it was a different experience, but, it all paid off and it all worked out.”
Bill Haney did not get a visa early enough to witness his son’s fight in Melbourne, Australia. But, finally, his visa was approved, and he was able to reach there just a few hours before the fight.
