Former interim WBC lightweight champion Ryan Garcia has received a reminder from Bill Haney about the ultimatum Papa Bill revealed yesterday to rematch his son Devin Haney. Haney Sr. had demanded ‘King Ry’ to enroll with VADA within 48 hours after a video of Garcia started making the rounds on the internet.

In it, the Victorville native claimed he is working every day to secure a rematch with ‘The Dream’ following their clash in April earlier this year. Despite dropping his career rival three times en route to a majority decision victory, Garcia’s win was overturned into a no-contest by the NYSAC after VADA found ostarine in Garcia’s system.

‘King Ry’ has since been banned from the sport of boxing while being fined $1.2 million in fines. Regardless, while reminding Garcia about the ultimatum he shared on social media yesterday, Bill pressured the 26-year-old to get things going. “Ryan Garcia, you’re blowing your opportunity,” Bill Haney said in a clip he shared on Instagram.

“You only have six hours left. You said you [were] working. We are too. We’ll see how bad you want it,” Papa Bill added. Meanwhile, he continued provoking Garcia through the caption of the post, claiming without “d**gs and al**hol” Garcia is scared to lose, just like his fans, who fail to pressure him into making the sport “clean and glorious again.”

It’s also worth mentioning that Devin Haney filed a lawsuit against Ryan Garcia some time ago, seeking damages for battery, fraud, and breach of contract regarding their fight in April. So, in case Garcia does accept Haney’s demands for a rematch, fans could see the duo throw hands in the ring sometime after April next year.

Meanwhile, Ryan Garcia was able to receive some good news amid his shattering house of cards.

Ryan Garcia gets warned by a judge

A vandalism charge against Ryan Garcia stemming from a June 8 incident at the Beverly Hills Waldorf Astoria hotel was dropped on Tuesday. Reportedly, Garcia had caused the hotel $15,000 in damages, but he swiftly paid that amount back to the hotel, and the high-end property owner didn’t wish to pursue the case any further—Garcia’s lawyer revealed.

However, Judge James P. Cooper III shared some crucial advice for Garcia before dismissing the case, warning him about his complete downfall. “I have seen athletes lose their money, very quickly, because people always want to be around you to party when you have the money,” Cooper said. He further added that when the money is gone, so are the friends around you.

“And you can look at Mike Tyson. It happened to Muhammad Ali. It happens to a lot of people in your field,” Cooper told Garcia. It’s worth mentioning that the incident happened days after Garcia had discovered his mother’s cancer diagnosis.

That being said, Bill Haney seems much more eager for Ryan Garcia to go through the rigmarole to accept the rematch against his son Devin Haney than Garcia himself. However, given the hype and drama surrounding these two, there’s a high likelihood the rematch would happen sometime down the line. Do you think Garcia should comply with Bill’s demands?
