This weekend, the WBC lightweight champion, Devin Haney, will take on his first fight of 2021. The young gun will lock horns with the veteran in Jorge Linares, thus looking to defend his title successfully for the second time. This is one highly important contest for Haney.

A win over someone as rugged as Linares will help ‘The Dream’ to solidify his position in the 135-pound roster; A defeat will see him fall by the wayside at lightweight.

While Haney vs Linarez remains the center of attraction on Saturday night, there are numerous fights on the undercard that are intriguing. That said, the undercard as per BoxRec comprises a women’s title fight and alongside that, there are several fights that are watch worthy.

Chantelle Cameron vs Melissa Hernandez – WBC Women’s super-lightweight title

In this cracking encounter, Cameron will defend her WBC strap against Hernandez. ‘Il Capo’, who displays a solid resume of 13 wins and 0 losses, will look to secure her first title defense. She is an oppressor who will look to carry her momentum with stern boxing skills.

On the other hand, Hernandez (23-7-3) has seen a career full of trials. We expect her to be the stern challenger, but we don’t see the belt changing hands in this bout.

Prediction – Chantelle Cameron wins via UD.

Jason Quigley vs Shane Mosley Jr. – Middleweight

In this middleweight collision, the Irish boxer Jason Quigley will make his in-ring appearance after almost 16 months. The 18-1 fighter will lock horns with Shane Mosley Jr.

Mosley Jr. is trying to stay relevant in the fight world. Hence, this fight might be his ticket to take on bigger opponents. Currently, his record stands at 17-3, and on Saturday night, he will be eager to claim his 18th win. His activity will help him do so.

Prediction – Shane Mosley Jr. wins via T/KO in round 3.

Martin J Ward vs Azinga Fuzile – Super-featherweight

Ward and Fuzile will take each other on in a prolific 12-round encounter. The South African pugilist, Fuzile, will storm into the ring after almost two years, thus looking to improve his boxing stint which now stands at 14-1.

Ward, on the other hand, is extremely eager to climb to the peak of the super-featherweight roster. He will need to bag his 25th career win to do so. His active run should help him immensely.

Prediction – Martin J Ward wins via UD.

Khalil Coe vs Nathaniel Tadd – Light-heavyweight

This fight will see Khalil Coe making his first professional ring walk. For now, his resume is clean, but in order to fight the best light heavyweights, Coe will have to add constant wins to the bag.

His adversary, Nathaniel Tadd, hasn’t quite enjoyed his time as a professional. This is principally why his record stands at 2-4. Tadd may not want to be the launching pad for Coe. Hence, he may strive to give the debutant a stern test. Unfortunately, we see him falling short.

Prediction – Khalil Coe wins via UD.

Reshat Mati vs Ryan Pino – Welterweight

This is one of the most intriguing fights of the entire undercard. In this clash, two young guns will go all out against each other. Mati is one sublime talent in the 147-pound roster. He has proven his mettle with his 9-0 track record.

On the other hand, his opponent, Ryan Pino, is coming off two straight losses. His last win came in 2018, and we don’t see that stat changing at this event. Mati will remain undefeated.

Prediction – Reshat Mati wins via T/KO in round 2.

Ramla Ali vs Mikayla Nebel – Featherweight

The 2-0 boxer, Ramla Ali, will lock horns with Mikayla Nebel. The latter has hung around the sport for a while, but the numbers on her resume don’t quite work in her favor.
