The two fought twice in 2014, and both fights were blockbuster events. Mayweather narrowly won the first fight on a controversial majority decision. However, a big talking point came in the second bout even though Mayweather won more convincingly.

The 50-0 boxer showed his class and beat Maidana with a unanimous decision. However, it was not smooth sailing, as Maidana hurt ‘TBE’ several times. He even infamously knocked out a tooth. This showed how close the bout was.

The incident came in the third round when Maidana had Mayweather backing up to avoid an onslaught. While ‘Money Mayweather’ tried to bob and weave his way out of trouble, ‘El Chino’ landed a powerful overhand right, and something flew out of Mayweather’s mouth. It appeared to be his tooth.

Marcos Maidana kept Floyd Mayweather’s tooth as a pendant
This incident sparked a lot of talk between fans and the fighters. It was one of the few times ‘TBE’ found himself under such pressure. However, the drama did not end there as both fighters continued their feud even after the fight ended.

The Argentinian claimed he kept the tooth and turned it into a pendant. When fans and critics started doubting these claims, the former champion even posted a picture to his social media to prove he had it.
Unsurprisingly, Mayweather denied losing a tooth and said, “He didn’t knock my teeth out. Not at all!” he also added, “He’s a strong guy, he’s a good puncher, but no, as far as my teeth missing, absolutely not.” (h/t Insider)

To this day, there is no way to know if Maidana really knocked out a tooth from Mayweather. Moreover, there is no confirmation that the pendant he posted was from the superstar boxer. However, it will always be one of the most bizarre stories about Mayweather in the ring.
