In the world of professional boxing, making weight is a critical aspect of preparing for a fight. For Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis, their highly anticipated bout at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas featured an added wrinkle, a 10-lb rehydration clause fight day weight check. Both fighters needed to be no higher than 146 lbs maximum or face a fine for each pound over the limit.
While the bout will take place at a catchweight of 136 pounds, their rehydration clause prevents both fighters to gain over 10 pounds before fight night. Both Garcia and Davis came in at 135.6 and 135.1 pounds respectively. However, the rehydration clause will especially affect ‘KingRy’ who is the bigger fighter and would easily gain over 10 pounds if there was no rehydration clause. So let us take a look if he was able to make weight within the clause.
