Whyte said Chisora could have won, but his corner was to blame for their tactics. He said, “I thought it was a good fight. It didn’t go the way I thought it would because I thought Derek could’ve won.

“And I thought he could’ve done much better, to be honest.” He added, “I thought he let himself down a bit by not having no boxing experience in his corner to tell him, to guide him, and tell him what to do and what not to do.”

While questioning the tactics, Whyte said that the way Chisora approached the fight was wrong. “He just sorta went into the ring with the mindset of ‘knockout, knockout, knockout.’ That didn’t work, and he just stuck to that game plan.”

Whyte believes that the lack of boxing experience in the corner cost him dearly. “And obviously Derek was the boss in the corner. There wasn’t anyone else there. There’s good people in there. Good strength and conditioning, good MMA guys, but they’re not boxing coaches. They weren’t giving him their advice that he needed.”

Why Dillian Whyte thinks Derek Chisora’s corner has no boxing experience

The outspoken heavyweight explained why he thinks they cost him the fight. He shared an instance from the fight to back this up.

It was crazy. At one point, one of them said to him, it was the eighth round or seventh, one of them said to him, ‘If you win this round, you’re winning the fight.’ And I’m like ‘What?’ I’m like — so far I’ve only given Derek 2-3 rounds.”

Scoring in boxing is more than just who throws the most punches. Whyte reaffirmed this by saying, “There’s people there that think, ‘OK, because you’re fit and you’re throwing punches, you’re winning.’

“No. There’s other things to be considered.”

Whyte and Chisora have had their differences in the past. However, this seemed like an honest reaction from Dillian Whyte. And we are sure many boxing fans can agree that Chisora’s approach to the fight cost him.
