Boxing has always been about ‘floating like a butterfly’ and ‘stinging like a bee’, and obviously a shred of ‘biting like a banshee’. A boxer recently added takedowns to the list, after using a double leg takedown against his opponent in a boxing match.
🥴 Thought that was a well-executed double leg takedown that you see in #MMA, but he must have forgotten this was a #boxing match.

The video, that has since gone viral, was taken at the Global Legion FC 20. Alberto Blas is a fighter who usually competes in MMA. But he seems to have forgotten that he was competing in a boxing match. Blas shot for a takedown against opponent Timmy Mason, barely a minute in the match.
However, Mason was able to push Blas away and continue fighting. The bout further saw a display of Mason’s technical prowess, and it became certain that Blas was on a losing streak.
Blas, in a desperate attempt for victory, used a double leg takedown on Mason for the second time. The referee then pulled Blas off of Mason and disqualified him on the spot.
The viewer’s perspective on the boxer
The fight was streamed on Fite TV. The viewers were divided in opinion about the incident. However, most viewers were excited by the surprising turn of events.
Coach D of MMA Fight Camp spoke about the incident, saying, “Double leg right, the best double leg in boxing history.”
He further went on to praise Mason’s ring skills, saying, “Timmy Mason was giving it, was handing you know Dennis (misnomer for Alberto) his a** now, he was handing them there.”
Additionally, he also took a dig at Blas. He said, “Look, I want none of that mother that smoke. Let me go ahead and give you this double leg real quick. Which is what I’m good at right because apparently I ain’t good enough with my hands.”
If I went to a boxing event and saw a guy shoot a successful double leg, I too would clap

@Tweets_by_Sayan mentioned the incident as an example of why boxers do not step inside the octagon.
And that's my friend is the reason why boxers don't step in the octagon with MMAs.

🤣 love how everyone saying this is what happens to boxers vs MMA, yeah if you in a boxing match expecting to be punched! Wonder how a MMA guy would do if you about to touch gloves and get iced with a left hook? If you get done by something illegal hardly reason 1 sport better!

However, not everyone was in line with the move. @DarkDestroyer82 felt that using a move that an opponent is not expecting in a sport is not a commendable feat.
