On April 26, 2025, Chris Eubank Jr. secured the most significant victory of his career when he defeated Conor Benn. With a unanimous decision in his favor, scored 116-112 by all judges, Eubank aimed to shift his focus to new horizons, or so he thought. After all, how could a fight marked by so much controversy and bad blood have a simple aftermath? And here entered Oleksandr Usyk with his verdict.

Following the fight, Conor Benn and promoter Eddie Hearn left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium frustrated, convinced they had done enough to win the fight. On Monday, the Ukrainian heavyweight champion revealed their afterthoughts, publicly criticizing judges’ scoring, putting the fight under a different lens.

Oleksandr Usyk passes his verdict

In a recent interview with talkSPORT, Oleksandr Usyk hailed the thrilling clash, claiming, “It was a great fight.” The Cat relished the intense exchanges but sharply disagreed with the judges’ scorecards. “I think Benn won, I didn’t watch the entire fight and count,” he declared.

The unified heavyweight champion admitted that he wasn’t able to watch the whole fight. However, from what he watched, The Destroyer was leading in his books“I had him (Benn) winning the first six or seven rounds,” he clarified.

Usyk isn’t alone in thinking Conor Benn deserved the victory. Benn’s relentless pressure and bravery stood out. However, Eubank Jr.’s tactical approach might have paid off. The Next Gen connected with 367 of his shots in comparison to Benn’s 215, giving him an unfathomable edge in the final scoring.

What’s your perspective on:

Did the judges get it wrong, or did Eubank Jr. truly outclass Benn in the ring?

However, losing so one-sidedly even after such a spirited performance is bound to leave a bitter taste. Unsurprisingly, both Benn and Eddie Hearn voiced their disappointment with fiery conviction.

Conor Benn alleges a closer fight

Even though Eubank controlled the fight, Benn didn’t agree with the result. “It’s a hard one because I felt like it could have been close. I felt like it could have been a draw,” he stated during the post-fight scrum. According to him, the fight could have gone either way, but he was proud of the effort he put in. “All I know is I gave everything I had in there tonight,” he stated.

On the other hand, Eddie Hearn completely dismissed the scoring as he felt robbed. “Unbelievable. I couldn’t split them at the end,” he stated. While the judge’s scorecards showcased Eubank Jr. leading in at least 8 rounds, the Matchroom honcho had different ideas.

“I thought Conor Benn was winning the fight. I thought he lost the last two rounds,” he declared. Hearn further attacked the IBO middleweight champion, claiming, “We’ve seen him moan before about scores. It is what it is. I don’t see Chris Eubank winning that fight by four rounds at all.”

However, the promoter was proud of his fighter and the spirited performance he put forward. According to the reports, the duo is heavily pushing for a rematch, even though Chris Eubank Jr. might not prefer to have it.
