Mikuru Asakura got the opportunity of his life but he could not redeem it the way he would have hoped to. Following the second-round stoppage against the former five-weight division champ Floyd Mayweather, the Japanese Mixed martial artist got emotional.

He knitted the heartbreaking feeling and poured it onto his social media platform through words. In his vernacular language, he wrote, ” was a complete failure Thanks for your great amount of support.” ( translated into English by google)

The 30-year-old stepped inside the jampacked Saitama Super Arena on Saturday night to pull the heavy odds. Hailing from a mixed martial background, Asakura was confident in his boxing skills, which was quite visible in the first round.

Starting with the southpaw stance, he found a quick opening into Mayweather’s impeccable defense and landed a few legit shots. Mayweather would have never thought that Asakura would begin all guns blazing at the exhibition.

But at the end of the day, Mayweather is a synonym for boxing. He took no time taking Asakura’s case in the ring. In the second round, Mayweather put in his boxing experience and landed a back-to-back right cross. After checking the durability of Asakura’s chin, Mayweather threw a few more heavy hands and dropped him before the end of the second round.

This fight clearly showed that though Mayweather is 45 years old, he still has enough command over his skills to damage young fighters of this generation.
