Dmitry Bivol, Known to Play Safe, Is Willing to Take “Risk” in Canelo Alvarez Fight: “This Is Fight Against the Best Fighter”

WBA (Super) light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol will be defending his title against Canelo Alvarez on May 7. Recently, the champ revealed that he is willing to undertake any risk to retain his title.

Bivol recently had an interview with Fight Hub TV. In conversation, the correspondent asked him if he wanted to take more risks during his fight with Alvarez.

In response, Bivol mentioned that he is willing to take risks against Alvarez. He said, “Of course, this is fight against the best fighter in the world. And you have used everything, and you have risk every time when you see it. Not sometimes, everytime, when you see, you have to go on the risk.”

Hearing Bivol’s response, the correspondent further added to his question. He asked, “A lot of people have said that you play it safe a lot in the fights. Do you think that’s fair?” 

The correspondent also asked him if he plans on taking the same approach for his fight with Alvarez. Bivol responded, by saying, “In this fight offcourse, I will more… more risks.”

He also added that he is willing to do the same, as Alvarez is much better than his previous opponents. And, Bivol also believes that this is his opportunity to showcase his skills, for which he has to take more risks.

Matchroom boxing announced on 25 February 2022 that Bivol would be making the fourth defense of his WBA (Super) title against 4 division world champion Canelo Álvarez.

Bivol had previously defended his title against Lenin Castillio, Craig Richards, and Umar Salamov.
