Moreover, Tyson’s power was put to the test after he was asked about his political opinions and inclination. In an interview with Newsmax, Tyson was asked to comment on Florida governor Ron DeSantis since he himself resides in the state. The former champ tried to dodge the question and stated that he did not want to discuss his political opinion publically. However, in the end, Iron Mike did provide us with a glimpse into his political views. He claimed that he was a liberal during his younger days but started turning conservative after fear over his children’s safety.

When I was younger, I was all-out liberal. But as I get older, and I look at my children, and I see what’s out there in the world. I get a little conservative, it’s common sense, you want safety,” said Tyson.

This is not the first time that the former heavyweight champion has shown that he leans towards the conservative end. Tyson has claimed that he was a supporter of former conservative president Donald Trump. He publically backed Trump’s presidential candidacy in 2015 before his eventual win in 2016.
