Sometimes humanity comes before everything. Australian boxing champion Luke Jackson shared a piece of devastating news on Facebook today. A very dear to him is currently suffering from a dreadful disease, and to help him financially, Jackson has decided to auction a pair of boxing gloves, which was given to him by the boxing legend, Floyd Mayweather. In his post, he also pledged to give his friend the entire auction proceeds.

Luke Jackson is a boxing champion from Australia and had won various titles including WBA Oceania and WBO Oriental championships. He also captained the 2012 Olympic boxing team. With this auction, he showed greatness towards humanity.

In the post, Luke Jackson shared a very sad piece of information, where he said that one of his friends suffers from a rare form of brain cancer. Glenn McKeown is Jackson’s friend, and is suffering from Medulloblastoma, a very aggressive form of brain cancer.

Medulloblastoma is a very rare and aggressive type of cancer, which usually occurs in the middle back of the brain.

In a Facebook post, Jackson shared that, he and Glenn share a very good friendship for over 15 years. He also walked down memory lane to recall that they traveled around Australia to do multiple boxing tournaments, and how he trained Glenn. He wrote, “Glenn has been my friend for over fifteen years. I trained him, he was my sparring partner many times and we have flown around Australia together competing in boxing tournaments. It has been such a pleasure having Glenn to call a friend.”

The gloves Luke Jackson is auctioning

The Australian boxing star stated that he had undergone 7 surgeries and multiple treatments for cancer. The most frustrating part is that Glenn’s doctors have given up on him and have placed him under palliative care. Thus, Jackson is now auctioning Floyd Mayweather’s gloves to help his friend and family. Mayweather is believed to have bagged $100 million every time he stepped into the ring.

He wrote, “I am auctioning this Floyd Mayweather glove to help support Glenn who is only 29 and his family, including his 4-year-old daughter in the hopes of raising enough money to bring him home with the necessary requirements to be cared for by his father, such as an accessible shower and easy access to the front of the house.

At the time of reporting this, the highest bid was $2000. However, it was an admirable gesture by Luke Jackson. The world certainly needs this kind of love and support.
