Paul had long yearned for a potential bout with his ‘favorite’ opponent, Tommy Fury. And the duo had even come to terms with the bout scheduled to take place at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City on August 6, 2022.
However, the recent travel bans on the Fury family caused Fury to back out of the fight.

On July 7, 2022, Paul announced that he has chosen a new opponent for the fight. He named his former sparring partner, Rahman Jr. as his new opponent. Moreover, he added that the fight will take place on the same date at the same venue.
Who is Hasim Rahman Jr?
Hasim Rahman Jr. was born on June 15, 1991, in Baltimore, Maryland. And boxing was imbibed in his blood from birth, with his father and brother being iconic boxers in their own right.

Rahman Jr. is the son of the former heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman. Notably, his father famously knocked out Lennox Lewis in 2001. Inspired by his father, he took to boxing at a young age and turned pro in the year 2017.

In the years since, he has raked in an impressive record of 12-1-0 with 6 knockouts. His last outing in the ring was on April 29, 2022. Rahman Jr. faced James Morrison at the Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas. However, he lost the fight after Morrison emerged the round by 5th round TKO.

Rahman Jr. has been very elusive and secretive as to the information about his personal life. But, it is reported that he is currently neither married nor in a serious relationship.
