Charles, who trained British heavyweight Dereck Chisora, explained why his fighter could not beat the 6’9” giant. He pointed to the same thing being the difference in the potential Anthony Joshua fight.
Speaking to SkySports, Charles broke down the entire fight and gave his take on it. However, when talking about planning for Fury, he said, “It’s almost like any game-plan you come up with, he has the ability to change to win the fight. That’s the problem for any trainer, training somebody to go and beat Fury.”
The ‘Gypsy King’ has displayed this on many occasions. In his last fight against Deontay Wilder, ‘The Gypsy King’ showed a change in tactics. Rather than out-boxing the hard-hitting Wilder, Fury walked him down and got the finish after multiple knockdowns.
Charles then added that no number of plans are enough for a fighter with the IQ that Fury possesses. He then said that the Englishman is one of a kind in the sport of boxing.
