The rivalry between pugilists and promoters has always been the pivot point of professional boxing. Oftentimes rivalry between promoters leads to intense battles between their boxers. Similarly, the beef between Top Rank’s Bob Arum and former boxing promoter Don King has many interesting chapters.

In an interview with Marcos Villegas on Fight Hub TV, Don King remembered Bob Arum while giving his opinion on boxing stalwart Mike Tyson. He shared insights into the relationship between him and Bob Arum.
King is of the opinion that Bob is a ‘Kennedy Raider’.

During the interview, Don King said, “Well that’s lonesome Bob, you got to understand my contemporary is was my inspiration. Lonesome Bob you know he was a Kennedy raider he was international like a lawyer, he thought a box and he even had Muhammad Ali, You know what I mean but everything that if you put a scale to say a hundred to zero who would be the most likely to succeed Don King.”

Moreover, Arum and King are two of the oldest and most successful boxing promoters. Both are contemporaries and have promoted some skilled fighters and have put on glorious fights.
Bob Arum and Don King shared a healthy rivalry
Bob Arum and Don King both turned 90 last year. However, Arum is still active and promotes champions like Tyson Fury although his competitor Don King is retired from sports.

And while Arum and King shared a rivalry for years, the competition between them was inspirational and healthy.

Even Bob Arum had given his opinion on Don and was all praise for his professional rival. He said, “If you’re an athlete and you roll over an inferior opponent, it doesn’t enhance you. Don was a worthy opponent. There’s never been a better salesman in boxing than Don King.”
