“Don’t be scared homie,” is a classic Nick Diaz quote that is remembered by the world of combat sports as an iconic moment. This begs the question- why has it been remembered? What ignited Diaz to say it? Back in 2007, Diaz was foes with KJ Noons; an MMA fighter who defeated Diaz via a doctor stoppage. Diaz was upset with the decision and wanted to avenge his defeat.

Thereafter, the two happened to be in the same building during Elite XC’s Return to Hawaii. Diaz seized the opportunity to step inside the cage after Noon’s victory and provoked him for a rematch. During the verbal altercation, Diaz stated, “Don’t be scared homie,” which the MMA fans found to be amusing and it instantly became iconic. Many combatants use this phrase as a method to trash-talk including Internet sensation turned boxer, Jake Paul who is set to face his brother, Nate Diaz.

Jake Paul reminds Nate Diaz of his brother’s words ahead of the bout

Jake Paul is set to face MMA veteran Nate Diaz on August 5. Diaz has an advantage in being a more experienced combatant and has remarkable endurance. Meanwhile, Paul has youth on his side and has been more active in recent years. Paul is the betting favorite but Diaz has proven to be a fighter not to be underestimated. Needless to say, the bout would be a spectacle and the lead-up would be entertaining as both fighters continue to throw verbal jabs at each other.

Paul shared a post made by Most Valuable Promotions on his Instagram story in which he was shadowboxing on a treadmill. He captioned the re-post as, “Don’t be scared homie. 10 rounds”

However, the fight is already booked. Why did Jake Paul make this reference? What is he hinting at when he states, “10 rounds”? Let’s unwrap these questions.
