Moreover, boxing legend Mike Tyson might have something to do with ‘Tank’s’ decision as he once gave some advice to the young boxer that might have played a role in his separation. In a face time video a couple of years back Tyson advised Davis to not let his managers control who and when he fights.

If you’re a fighter friend, you help them make some money right. You guys should come up to some conclusion and don’t let your managers. You have to say let’s make a fight and that’s when your lawyers come in” he said.

Moreover, he claimed that he did not need to garner a relationship of friendship in business and that one need to be more civilized while booking fights.

You don’t have to have friends to negotiate a deal. You know two black men should be able to have a conversation about business and not be fighting over one another. They say this is how we have to handle business, have to be civilized.” he added.

It looks like ‘Iron Mike’ might have had a hand in Davis now parting ways from the promotion he has been with his whole life. In addition, during ‘Tank’s‘ fight against Rolly Romero this was the talking point ahead of the fight with Mayweather mostly being absent from the conferences.

First and foremost, love to Mayweather Promotions and all that they have done for me. But I am definitely out of my contract, for sure,” he said.

‘Tank’ will face Hector Luis Garcia on 7th January at the Capital One Arena. However, it is unclear if this bout will be promoted as a collaboration between Davis and another promotion or will be solely promoted by Davis himself.
