Reportedly, Iron Mike had the same drug dealer as Hollywood actor Robin Williams at one point. In an interview with Howard Stern for SiriusXM radio back in 2014, Tyson revealed that he and Willams often met and were shocked to find out they had the same dealer.

This is very interesting. When I met him and he said, I was waiting for you. … He started telling me about somebody I was purchasing from. I said to myself, how does he know this lowlife dealer I know? They shouldn’t be in the same state. You go to every measure to get high. Everybody knows everybody,” said Tyson.

He then went on to compare his addiction to being starved, with the drugs being food. “Think of it like this. Think about you’re starving, you’re absolutely famished. And that drug — h****n, c*****e — that’s food,” he added.

However, Tyson then stated that he was clean although it was a never-ending battle for him. “I’m clean now. But this is a constant fight. Eventually, that dark entity’s going to knock on the door,” he said.

How becoming vegan helped Mike Tyson with his drug addiction

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Iron Mike revealed that adopting a strict vegetarian diet helped him with substance abuse. He claimed this diet helped him lose weight and helped him in dealing with high blood pressure and arthritis.

“Becoming a vegan gave me another opportunity to live a healthy life. I was so congested from all the drugs and bad c***ne, I could hardly breathe, had high blood pressure, almost dying, arthritis. And once I became a vegan, all that stuff diminished,” said Tyson.

The drugs were a coping mechanism for the former heavyweight champion who had been around them since his childhood. However, he overcame his unhealthy lifestyle and consciously made efforts to change it, for which he deserves praise.
