Joshua has displayed an interest in fighting Fury for a title unification bout. Recently, his promoter Eddie Hearn stated that he is also interested in making it happen. However, there are 2 problems with that. Firstly, Joshua is already scheduled to fight Kubrat Pulev and secondly, Deontay Wilder has the option to invoke his rematch clause.

Eddie Hearn is more interested in Tyson Fury Vs Anthony Joshua than any other fight

Hearn told Ariel Helwani that a deal can be made to make Fury Vs Joshua since both Fury and Pulev are managed by Bob Arum. However, Wilder should not invoke his rematch clause.
He hopes that Wilder does not exercise his rematch clause.

“I hope he [Deontay Wilder] doesn’t, but I’m confident he will. I mean what else is he going to do? If he walks away from the rematch, he has to fight what? A tune-up bout? It basically says I am a beaten Individual.”

As Hearn said, it is highly unlikely that Deontay Wilder will throw away the rematch. It will hurt Wilder’s brand badly. On the other hand, Joshua already has a mandatory challenger in Pulev. Also, Fury is likely to take some weeks off and stay out of the ring.

However, anything can change in combat sports at any moment. We might get to see Fury vs AJ this year or we might never see them fight. The world of combat sports is unpredictable.
