The pound-for-pound king of boxing, Canelo Alvarez, will defend his super-middleweight titles against Avni Yildirim tonight. This will be his first major title defense at this weight class and post this he has massive plans to compete for the undisputed title. But first, he has to get past the resilient Turkish pugilist, Avni Yildirim.

Prior to the fight, Canelo’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, made a bold prediction for this fight.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, he said:

“I think you’re going to see a great performance from Yildirim. I don’t think he’s going to be good enough, but I think he’s going to wear his heart on his sleeve. I think he’s going to try and give it a great fight.”

Despite Yildirim being the underdog, Hearn believes he’ll give it his best shot. However, he backed his newly signed star, Canelo, to win this fight with a knockout.

He said, “I believe he’ll knock him out in the middle stages of the fight.” To add a number, Hearn said the fight might end by round 7.

Canelo is a sure-shot favorite in this fight. Not only Hearn, but a major chunk of boxing fans wish to see him get his hand raised tonight. Because post this fight, Alvarez will challenge the other champions in the division to cement his spot and become the first undisputed Mexican super middleweight champion.

A veteran of the sport, Canelo has observed massive success in his decorated boxing run and has held gold in every division he has stepped in. Now, at 30, Saul Alvarez is pushing himself to attain a career first, and the first step to that goal will be to put on a clinic against Yildirim.
