Eddie Hearn recently offered fans a bit more insight into the Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua situation. The heavyweight super-stars have been rumored to fight for the longest time now; and it finally seems like 2021 is the year we see it happen.
Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn, who is also Joshua’s promoter, gave the latest news about the fight.
Speaking to iFL TV, Hearn spoke about many things. At the end, he touched upon the Fury fight. He said, “If AJ beats Pulev, that’s the…. That fight [against Fury] is our May fight or June fight, the latest.”

The promoter added, “Arum says he thinks Pulev’s going to knock AJ out and it won’t be a problem. But he said if AJ beats Pulev, we’ll go straight into that fight. Well, I hope so. Because we can’t wait around.
“So just hold your horses till December 12th. That’s the key date in heavyweight calendar. Because if AJ can beat Pulev, we want to make that fight immediately; for the late spring, early summer of 2021.”
Why does Eddie Hearn not want to wait
Hearn went on to explain that if Tyson Fury is to fight in early 2021, then their fight for June will be in jeopardy and will have to be delayed.
This would then cause problems with Oleksandr Usyk, who is mandatory for Joshua. Thus, Hearn isn’t willing to wait and is hoping that Fury fights in January 2021, so there is enough time to make the fight.
