A recent Eddie Hearn interview brought something out of him that he wish he hadn’t said. In conversation with the Matchroom promoter, ‘The DAZN Boxing Show’ hosts asked Hearn about his thoughts on who Tyson Fury should fight next.

Eddie Hearn pointed out that ‘The Gypsy King’ hates inactivity. However, he went on to lay out a scenario in which Fury sits out other fights waiting for the indication clash.

Hearn said if Fury remains inactive until he gets that big fight, Joshua would first fight Usyk in the rematch in March or April. He then spoke his mind out by saying after that rematch, Usyk would go on to fight Fury in September 2022. AJ’s promoter basically snubbed his fighter’s chances at winning against Usyk even in the rematch.

“Dillian Whyte against Tyson Fury, that is a massive fight here, massive fight! The build would be maybe as good as the fight. Dillian Whyte, you know, deserves his shot. A victory against Otto Walin, no one can deny him of that shot at world heavyweight title.

“I had a nice debate with Andre Ward online yesterday, he said ‘come on, why does he need to fight Dillian Whyte’, I said ‘who else is he going to fight?’, he said ‘well, just sit it out’. Sit it out? He’s had 2 fights in 2 years, Tyson Fury and he hates inactivity.

“So, if he sits it out, AJ is going to fight Usyk in March or April, and then Usyk’s going to fight Fury in September, October, it’s going to be three fights in three years. Let’s get a bit of momentum!” said Eddie Hearn.

Eddie Hearn is looking forward to Joshua becoming a three-time heavyweight world champion

Just over 3 weeks ago, Anthony Joshua lost his heavyweight throne to the former undisputed cruiserweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk. After some time off, the former two-time unified heavyweight champion is now already looking forward to reclaiming his titles.

Matchroom top boss Eddie Hearn recently announced that Anthony Joshua has now triggered the rematch clause in his contract. On the other hand, Usyk said right after his win on Sep 25 that he would like to run it back with AJ next.

He claimed that AJ is now back in the gym. Hearn is now looking forward to becoming a three-time heavyweight world champion in the spring of next year.

“He’s got his head back in the game, he’s training, now we’ve officially triggered the rematch for the Oleksandr Usyk which we’ll see early next spring. Back in the game and looking for him to become a three-time heavyweight world champion,” said Eddie Hearn.
