Callum Smith succumbed to a devastating loss to the veteran Canelo Alvarez on December 19. The Brit failed to break Alvarez’s momentum that night and had to settle for his professional loss in boxing. Post the fight, there were several speculations and rumors of Smith moving a notch-up to the light-heavyweight division to begin a fresh run in the sport again.

Smith’s promoter and fellow Britisher, Eddie Hearn, has unveiled his notions on Smith’s future.

As per Michael Benson‘s tweet, Hearn is assuming Callum Smith will fight at the 175-pound division after his loss to Alvarez. In fact, Hearn even hinted he has an opponent lined up for Smith, who is none other than Joshua Buatsi. The Matchroom supremo is targeting this fight for the light-heavyweight world title.

Both Smith and Buatsi are represented by Hearn, and he firmly believes he can make this fight happen. But there’s no affirmation from Callum Smith’s corner yet. He hasn’t quite revealed his plans for the future.

On the flip side, Joshua Buatsi is a rugged contender in the light-heavyweight roster. He will look forward to welcoming Smith with open arms if it schedules this fight for the title.

Considering his astonishing reach and height, Smith will be a colossal prospect in the 175-pound division. He will look forward to climbing back to the top and be the ultimate champion at this division. However, Mundo will have to take on some genuine contenders to turn the tide in his favor once again.
