Eddie Hearn Launches New Partnership with Canelo Alvarez to Stage Fights in Mexico

Eddie Hearn has made some big transitions in the past few months, bagging several new deals for his Matchroom Promotions. His recent connection with official broadcaster DAZN in the UK appears to be a big step for the whole roster. Meanwhile, the Brit promoter has also expanded his reign in Mexico by joining hands with Canelo Alvarez.

DAZN, Canelo Alvarez Promotions, and Matchroom would stage their first Mexican event on June 26, with a stacked fight card onboard. While Alvarez and Hearn continue to strengthen their relationship, we can see several such events come to fruition.

Reporter Michael Benson took to social media to reveal the news. Meanwhile, WBC flyweight titlist Julio Cesar Martinez will defend his belt against Joel Cordova in the main-event at the Arena Alcalde in Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico. Besides, Canelo Promotions and Matchroom, Osvaldo Chavez’s ‘Clase y Talento Boxeo’ will also co-promote the event. The full fight card is under process but already has two title bouts. ‘El Rey’ Martinez is one of the brightest boxers in the active roster and a big superstar in Mexico. As he would headline the night against Joel Cordova, the belt is assured to remain in Mexico for the time. Furthermore, we can also expect Canelo Alvarez to be present in the arena, grabbing more eyeballs for the event.

The co-main event would feature WBA (Interim) light flyweight champion Daniel Matellon go against Jose Argumedo in an interesting scrap. Super lightweight Gabrel Gollaz Valenzuela, super middleweight Diego Pacheco, welterweight Christian Alan Gomez Duran would also compete in the card, but they are yet to receive their official opponents.

The P4P king Canelo Alvarez has found three lavish deals with Eddie Hearn after split up with former promoter Oscar De La Hoya. So, he seems to continue the partnership ahead.
