The 22nd February’s Last Crescendo Fight saw the 2 modern-day gladiators clashing against one another. What an astounding sight to behold. Dmitry Bivol finally avenged his loss after 4 months against Artur Beterbiev. After 12 intense rounds, the judges’ scorecard read 115-113, 116-112, and 114-114, all in favor of the new IBF, WBO, WBC, and WBA Light Heavyweight Champion. Along with the 34-year-old, it was his promoter, Eddie Hearn, who was also on cloud nine after the marvelous feat.

Soon after the match ended, Eddie was seen talking to the Ring Magazine. No doubt he was praising how Dmitry Bivol started headstrong and managed to keep the flow till the end of 12 rounds. But that was not the only thing he talked about. What really raised eyebrows was the hint the 45-year-old dropped, pointing to some big names as potential opponents for Dmitry Bivol. Who will fight the Tokmak native if not Artur Beterbiev for a trilogy? Is it David Benavidez? Let’s take a look.

Hearn teases Dmitry Bivol vs. Canelo Alvarez rematch

In the interview, Eddie Hearn, reflecting on the trials and challenges that come with the sport, quoted Romans 8:18, which emphasizes that the hardships we endure are nothing compared to the joy that lies ahead. When the reporter asked about a possible trilogy between Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev, Eddie Hearn responded affirmatively, saying, “Whatever His Excellency wants. Benavidez, Canelo rematch, the trilogy.” The Matchroom promoter mentioned 3 possible matchups. A rematch with Canelo Alvarez, a title shot against David Benavidez, and a trilogy with Beterbiev. The reason? It’s obvious.

He pointed out how exciting the first fight was. And that is more than enough for fans to contemplate how the next fight would turn out to be even better. But do you think a rematch with Canelo Alvarez sounds good for the boxing fans? Given the fact that the Mexican Champion had already signed a 4-fight deal with His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, which will continue till October next year, the rematch with Bivol seems unlikely. But hey, let’s not forget it’s boxing and anything can change in the blink of an eye.

But what does the current Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority think? A few hours ago, Turki Alalshikh on the Ring Magazine stated, “He deserves it and we want to see the third… if Artur accepts then we will see third.” But, it’s boxing, and the fighters’ choices will be the final verdict. Does the 21-1, 20 KO want to fight?

The fight that will settle it all

The 40-year-old didn’t seem ready to retire after tasting defeat for the first time since turning pro in 2013. Ultimately, Beterbiev called for a rematch, refusing to let his career die just like that. In his post-fight interview, Beterbiev vowed to return for a third fight. He declared, “Now it’s my time to come back… We’re gonna do a third fight.”

Despite two thrilling battles in Riyadh in 2 consecutive years, there’s still no clear winner between Bivol and Beterbiev. The second fight was extremely close, with small moments that could have shifted the result in either direction. The bigger reason for a third fight is that Bivol, now the undisputed champion, should want to solidify his legacy by beating Beterbiev twice. When Bivol lost the first fight, Beterbiev gave him the chance for redemption, and now it’s Bivol’s turn to prove he’s the best in the division.

A third fight would not only settle the debate but also attract massive interest and financial rewards. While the timeline for the trilogy is uncertain, fans are eager to see what comes next for these two top fighters. What do you think about the trilogy? Do you think Artur Beterbiev will take his revenge this time?
