Matchroom Boxing’s CEO Eddie Hearn took to Twitter and brought to light an effort that he was undertaking. Hearn wrote an open letter to British Government officials Nigel Huddleston and Oliver Dowden that he shared on social media.

Dowden is the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sports and Huddleston is a Minister for Sports, Tourism, and Heritage.

Chiefly, the subject of discussion was a Government rescue package that was drawn up recently. The aforementioned £300 million package has excluded boxing from its ranks, and Hearn aims to stop that from happening.

Eddie Hearn has been vocal about the importance of boxing towards the all-round development of people who train in it.

The famed British promoter left no stone unturned when it came to relaying the importance of boxing to the community. He explained that it helped many people get onto the straight and narrow path as well as had several physical and mental benefits.

He made an appeal to include boxing in the aforementioned rescue package and provide it with financial backing

The boxing community certainly appreciated this move made by Hearn to bring the sport under the umbrella of financial safety. Although top-ranked boxers make a killing, the fighters on the other end of the spectrum have a tough time.

There’s no doubt that an all-inclusive care package of sorts could help safeguard the future of the sport.

Additionally, several notable names in boxing like Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have openly spoken out on the positives of the sport. Both the aforementioned fighters were traversing down the wrong path before boxing saved them.

Not to mention, it has now become a source of great acclaim and wealth as well, as both Fury and Joshua are Forbes List toppers.

Fans will be looking to see how the British Government responds to Eddie Hearn’s efforts to safeguard the sport. It would be a notable turn of events if reconsideration was given to the exclusion of boxing from the package.
