The current heavyweight scenario doesn’t approve an immediate fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, which was tagged as the biggest collision in the division a few months back. Both the Britons shared the heavyweight titles before Oleksandr Usyk snatched the WBA, WBO, and IBF belts from ‘AJ’ in what came as a massive shock to combat fans.

Joshua now has two defeats and will appear as an underdog if he ever bags the matchup against Tyson Fury. Despite that, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, is still optimistic about making the fight.

In an exclusive chat with DAZN Boxing, Eddie Hearn said, “I think the AJ Fury fight is still the fight. That’s the fight that people still want to see and will always be there. The bigger the better.”

“That fight, I promise you, will happen, whether that’s late this year or early next year, Fury vs. AJ is a dead cert to happen because it’s too big a fight not to.”

Anthony Joshua will reportedly re-match Oleksandr Usyk in early 2022 with the dream to regain his titles. On attaining his desired aim, AJ will be back in full force. He can then target the undisputed title fight against Tyson Fury. However, another defeat will end Joshua’s prominence in the current title race.

Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua may have lost the spark

Fury has toppled every heavyweight A-lister on his way to reach where he is at today. From Wladimir Klitschko to Deontay Wilder, ‘The Gypsy King’ has beaten them all and has touched all the heavyweight titles at some point in his career. His legendary winning run came to a halt in 2018 when he and Deontay Wilder drew in their original clash.

Meanwhile, Joshua has faded and two defeats (Andy Ruiz Jr., and Oleksandr Usyk) in his last four fights have taken away his aura before ‘The Gypsy King’.

It has clearly affected the popularity of his possible clash against Tyson Fury. This potential bout seemed to be a 50-50 fight a few months back, but now it looks to be a fight in favor of ‘The Gypsy King’.
