British promoter Eddie Hearn has spearheaded Matchroom Promotions to make it one of the greatest boxing entities all over the world. However, he might have some added responsibilities now, since he has inherited the role of Chairman.

His father, Barry Hearn, retired from the role of Chairman, leaving Eddie Hearn with the reins. The younger Hearn took to social media and announced the news, sending several fans into a frenzy. He posted a childhood picture alongside his father and shared his raw emotions with the fans.

Hearn wrote, “Today is a major day for our family as my dad steps aside as Chairman of Matchroom Sport and I take up the role.

“Anyone that knows me is well aware of what Matchroom means to me and our family. I look forward to continuing the global growth of this astonishing family business.”

While Eddie Hearn has also remarked about wanting to monopolize the business of boxing, his role as a Matchroom Chairman can help him attain that.

Matchroom as a promotion is one of the greatest organizations in the world. And Hearn seems like the perfect successor to his father’s seat.
