Hearn spoke to ‘Little Giant Boxing’ on YouTube and addressed a potential Wilder vs. Ruiz. Jr. fight. The promoter said, “Ruiz against Wilder? He [Ruiz Jr.] gives Wilder absolute fits in that fight. He would knock Wilder clean out. It would be so one-sided, that fight. So, one-sided.”

These comments showed just how highly the promoter rates the former champion.

Ruiz Jr. has admitted he wants the fight against Deontay Wilder. He believes it would give him the chance to prove himself on the big stage again. Therefore, if it happens, we will find out if Hearn’s prediction comes true.

The outspoken promoter did not leave it at his prediction. Instead, he then explained his reasoning for picking ‘The Destroyer’ over ‘The Bronze Bomber’. Moreover, he even made a surprising claim about Ruiz Jr. and the heavyweight division.

As an explanation for his pick, Hearn said, “Because Andy Ruiz is a really smart fighter. Same as when we talk about Canelo, from 12 or 13 or whatever, Andy Ruiz is the same mold. And Andy Ruiz has Eddie Reynoso now. Bad fight for Deontay Wilder.”

Comparing Ruiz Jr. to a pound-for-pound king like Canelo Alvarez will surprise many in the boxing world. However, Hearn seems to be confident with his pick. Moreover, the fact that the heavyweight is now part of Canelo’s team may have influenced his decision.

Hearn ended by saying he doesn’t see too many heavyweights who can beat the former unified heavyweight champion of the world. Thus, from the comments made by Hearn, it is no secret he believes Ruiz Jr. is one of the top fighters in the division.
