Anthony Joshua, the unified heavyweight world champion, defended his titles incredibly as he knocked out Kubrat Pulev in their recent headlining clash. However, he might not have received the credits he deserved, especially after a sensational victory.

Matchroom CEO Eddie Hearn ridiculed Joshua’s critics and pointed fingers at Bob Arum, who underestimated Joshua before his fight against Pulev.

Although Anthony Joshua silenced his critics, Bob Arum still found a reason to criticize Joshua. He didn’t appear impressed with his performance. So, Hearn found an appropriate opportunity to bash Arum.

He connected with AK & Barak show (per Boxing Scene) to throw light on Joshua’s ongoing boxing journey. While Hearn was impressed by AJ’s recent performance, few are.

The Matchroom CEO said, “To be honest, I find it absolutely hilarious,”

He added, “I mean like you’ve got Bob Arum saying Pulev will absolutely destroy Joshua in this fight, blah, blah, blah. And then Pulev don’t win one round and gets dismantled and knocked out, and Arum goes, ‘I wasn’t very impressed by his performance.’ I mean, absolutely no one wants to give Anthony Joshua any credit. But unfortunately, this is the way of the world when you’re at the top. You know?”

Eddie Hearn is all for Anthony Joshua

Being Joshua’s promoter, Hearn has always been by his side. Even when he got pushed to the brink after the loss against Ruiz Jr, Hearn never lost his faith in the current unified titleholder.

So, the saga remains the same as Joshua is back to the knockout game with a big win over Pulev. After the fight, Hearn talked with Joshua and applauded him for the victory.

He analyzed the fight and pointed out how Joshua regained his dominance and top-spot in the heavyweight division.

The Matchroom CEO said, “You know, AJ, I spoke to him last night. He’s like, ‘What do you think?’ I said, ‘I thought it was absolutely spectacular.’ I said, ‘You were calm.’ I said, ‘You got hit twice in the fight.’ I said, ‘You [took] one right hand, and that’s it. This guy is supposed to have one of the best jabs in the division. I don’t think he hit you with a clean jab.’ Right?”

He continued, “I said, ‘You tied him up every time he got anywhere near you. I said, ‘The third round was sensational.’ I said, ‘Actually, the guy should’ve been stopped. He turned his back.’ Right? Yet the referee decided to give him an eight count.”

Well, Joshua has proven his worth, and it’s time to face WBC champion, Tyson Fury, for a unification clash. If everything falls in place, boxing will see its ultimate Brit showdown in 2021.

Apart from Fury, Joshua also has his WBO mandatory challenger in Oleksandr Usyk. So, he has plenty of doors open for a fight.

Do you think Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will fight in 2021?
