Tyson Fury comes from a family with a rich history of boxers. As a result, his introduction into the sport often came because of his father John Fury. Eddie Hearn narrated a story of the first time he met Tyson Fury, but let everyone know that he is scared of Fury’s dad as well.
“I actually like Tyson Fury. I mean, I am quite scared of his dad. Yeah, so I am looking forward to it.”
Hearn then narrated the story of the first time he saw Tyson. He said, “I actually think once, I think my dad spoke to Tyson Fury when he was like 16 or 17. I remember him coming to a prizefighter in Newcastle and I was about, I reckon I was about late 20s. He is about 30 now, so about 10 years younger than me?

Hearn added, “I mean can you believe that I am 10 years older than Tyson Fury… because I look a 100 times better than him. I think he was about 17 or 18 and he turned up at the time with long hair at the time. ‘Oh, that’s John Fury’s boy’. He’s done brilliantly well, and I just believe we win.”

Tyson Fury: Why is Eddie Hearn narrating these stories?
Isn’t the reason obvious? The entire interview is predicated on the possible super-fight between Fury and Anthony Joshua. In fact, the reason Eddie Hearn may be scared of Tyson’s dad is that John Fury went on a scathing rant about him. A more plausible reason could also just be the regular terrifying nature of John Fury. Considering John holds ill-will towards Hearn, the reason for the fear becomes clear.

Even at the end of his story, Hearn felt the need to compliment Tyson before saying he thinks Joshua beats him. As a promoter, he has to hype his fighter up. It would be bizarre for him to say that Fury would beat Joshua. So, this is all playing into a narrative now.
