Canelo Alvarez is unquestionably a highly rated boxer today. He has a legion of fans that track the Mexican’s moves. A few months ago, Alvarez opted to become a free agent in the sport. However, in the wake of recent developments, Alvarez has seemingly inked a deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Sport.

Hearn was recently in an interview with Mike Coppinger, where he expressed his gratitude towards the super-middleweight champion and the journey that awaits him.

“I have to send a huge thank you to Canelo Alvarez because he gave me a pair of Dolce Gabbana pajamas,” he said.

Firstly, the Matchroom supremo thanked the Mexican boxer for giving him a pair of branded pajamas. Hearn was in Texas alongside Alvarez, and while he was leaving, the latter gifted him the same.

He asserted that even though these are tiny gestures, they play a colossal role in strengthening a relationship.

Hearn further continued, “I feel like we have a great relationship and I feel like there’s so much we could do together, not just solidify his position as the undisputed champ at 168 pounds but take him around the world and box him around the world.”

For now, Alvarez and Hearn and have joined hands for two fights. Hearn acknowledges the responsibility he has to promote a boxer as big as Canelo. He seemed extremely ecstatic at the prospect of having Alvarez rely on him.

Will Eddie Hearn and Canelo Alvarez bag their 2-fight deal?

Out of his prolonged boxing career, this is the first time that the 4-division champ has signed a deal with Matchroom Sport. His next fight is already in line with Avni Yildirim for a mandatory title defense, and his next bout is speculated with Billy Joe Saunders for the WBO super-middleweight belt.

Hearn already promotes some top-graded boxers like Anthony Joshua and all of Joshua’s fights attract record PPV buys.

Canelo will prominently observe how Hearn’s Matchroom Sport plans for his upcoming fights, and will subsequently consider entering negotiations regarding a prospective deal with him again.

What do you make of Hearn’s aforementioned comments on the Mexican boxer? Do you envision both of them fetching their contract soon?
