What’s the truth from your perspective? Why isn’t this rematch happening and why does it seem like it’s so far away from happening all of a sudden?” He asked Paul who, then revealed the real reason the rematch was not taking place and stated that it was because of Serrano having to drop back to 126 pounds. “The only truth is the fact that Amanda Serrano has to go back to 126 pounds to defend her belts and to stay as the unified champion because otherwise they were gonna strip her of her belts,” Paul told Helwani.

However, Paul didn’t rule out the possibility of a rematch in the future after Serrano’s next fight,” She’s gonna unify her belts again, beat this Brenda girl August 6th, and then go and do the rematch with Katie Taylor that’s it.” Paul added. Moreover, The Problem Child even took shots at Taylor’s promoter and Matchroom CEO Eddie Hearn and referred to him as a “snake.” “All these boxing people are snakes. Eddie Hearn’s a snake. He is a typical promoter, he grew up in the business. He’s a liar as far as I am concerned.” He said.

Lastly, Paul assured Helwani that a rematch with Katie Taylor will “100 percent” take place in the future. However, Serrano has to first take on WBO interim titlist Brenda Carabajal in the co-main event of Jake Paul vs Hasim Rahman Jr. at Madison Square Garden.

The first fight between the pair was unexpected in a very good way, as the two put on a show in the Mecca of boxing for their first fight. Although Taylor won the fight, it was a split decision victory and a very close fight that warranted rumors of the rematch.

Moreover, if the tensions between Paul and Hearn come to an end, they could very well be open to discussing a rematch as it would be the best option both commercially as well skill-wise for both fighters.
